Depending on your subscription plan you may or may not be able to contact the Consumer directly prior to placing a bid.
If you have questions and would like to get clarification from consumer you can ask it through the "Public Message Board" if it has been enabled by the Consumer during the Gig posting process.
If enabled, you can ask your question by selecting the "Ask a Question" tab on the Gig listing page. Remember that all questions are visible to registered members and that personal contact info such as email and phone numbers is a direct violation of the Terms and Conditions and is grounds for removal from the system and your subscription can be terminated.
